American Narratives:
A two year project to capture
stories of ordinary Americans
doing extraordinary things
Simply put, we will be taking a series of journeys over the next two years to meet the folks whose stories we will share,
first on social media and in the Fall of 2025, through our publications.
While on those journeys, we hope to be sharing our visits and travels with upper elementary students so they can come along with us, ask questions about those places, and see those sites as best we can portray them. We look forward to sharing their views and queries.
We continue to look for ways to connect our travels to schools back home. If you are an educator that is interested in discussing the possibilities with us, please email us.
Won’t it be nice to read something positive for a change?
OUR UPCOMING JOURNEYS
March 31st to May 28th
We are combining the Trips #11 & #12 into one amazing adventure that will bring both of our state counts up to 48. After picking up the Jaybird in Kentucky, we head back to Hot Springs Arkansas to spend a bit more time in that area. Then a side trip into Oklahoma before on to Texas to visit friends in Austin and Big Bend National Park. A visit to southern New Mexico for White Sands, Alamogordo, and a visit to friends in Albuquerque before though Arizona and the Grand Canyon. California will be next, but we will avoid the big cities, spending our time in the north where we can visit Yosemite and Joshua Tree. Back to Oregon for Crater Lake and then across to Idaho and down to Utah for Arches and Biscayne. We will work our way across the Rockies into Colorado for a visit to Fort Collins (where my grad school is) and Estes Park. And we will likely depart from Jaybird there, possibly selling it as this should conclude our travels that need a camper. The America we enjoyed in our initial trips now seems much different when traveling; sheltered, shuttered, and not as open.
If you know of someone doing good things in their community within a day’s drive of our path, let us know and we will connect with them. Use our contact form or send us an email with their name and info so we can plan a visit soon.
